kelley family. adoption day.

I don't think I've ever seen a family so happy, a courtroom so joyful or a two-year-old keep a tiny tux on for an entire afternoon!

When I reported for a newspaper, Steno in hand, I don't recall a visit to the courthouse ever being too full of smiles for the subjects of the story. But a few days before Christmas, a small member of the Kelley family taught me a little something. Crouched on my knees and talking to five kids who were about to get a new little brother, one of them said, "You know, sometimes people have to go to court for bad things, but today we're here for a really great thing!" And that we were! To be on this side of the story is quite a wonderful thing.

When Jeff and Jennifer contacted us about documenting the culmination of a two year adoption process, we were thrilled! I'll take these visits to court any day! (The judge even allowed me to "take over the courtroom!" Turns out they fight to preside over these special cases too!)

Meeting this family of eight on a brisk morning in Marietta melted our hearts. What a wonderful way to begin our holidays and end our year in business.

Welcome, Charlie Kelley! There really is no place like home!

  1. Eight years later, these pictures retell the beautiful story of that awesome day for our family. That tiny, almost two-year-old will turn 10 in five days, and he has brought our family unending joy! Thank you, Erin, for capturing this special day in such a special way! Love, Jennifer
